About Montessori House

At Montessori House, we understand the unique needs of children under 3, and the incredible power of what Dr. Montessori called the Absorbent Mind.

Our environment is rich in language and culture and gives children the freedom to move, explore through their senses, and grow in independence within clear, loving boundaries. It is our mission to partner closely with families to support development of the whole child, helping them build a strong foundation for a successful, happy and meaningful life.

Meet Karen Jamboretz

Founder of Montessori House

Karen is originally from Chicago and discovered her passion for Montessori education while working in Montessori schools in Sydney, Australia from 2011 to 2018. She later returned to the United States to complete her formal Montessori training at the
Montessori Training Center of St. Louis.

Her Montessori certifications include:

  • AMI Diploma for Assistants to Infancy (Birth to 3 Years) Graduated in 2019
  • Children’s House Assistants Course Certification (for children 3–6 years) | Graduated in 2018
  • Continuing Education through DESE and MCTSTL

Karen has more than 20 years of childcare experience and specialized Montessori training for infants and toddlers. In March 2021, she founded Montessori House with a vision of bringing an authentic Montessori approach to a home-like daycare setting. She believes Montessori principles help children develop meaningful connections, self-confidence, independence, kindness, and respect while honoring each child’s unique developmental timeline and needs. Karen is grateful for the opportunity to bring her love of Montessori values to her daycare and help every child realize their potential. She understands the profound impact adults have during a child’s earliest years and does not take that responsibility lightly. She is humbled and honored to serve as a positive role model and guide for the children in her care.

Emma

Emma has been working in early childhood education for more than five years. “I absolutely love the warm, personal environment and being part of such a special community! I’m currently working toward my Bachelor’s degree in Education and am so excited to continue growing alongside the children I work with every day.”

About Our Space

Montessori House is a local Montessori daycare, nestled in south St. Louis. We are unique in that our curated space mimics that of an in-home environment, but is solely dedicated to our daycare activities.

We serve children, from about ~6 months to 3 years old, and only accept 10 students at any given time, providing focused time and attention to each student.

Montessori House was created to offer families something different from a traditional childcare setting—a warm, thoughtfully prepared environment where childhood is allowed to unfold naturally.

Our home-based setting gives children the comfort and familiarity of home, while surrounding them with meaningful opportunities to explore, contribute and connect. Days have a natural rhythm, with time for play, outdoor exploration, shared meals, practical life activities, rest and the everyday moments that help young children feel secure and grounded.

Children don’t just spend their day with us. They are contributing members of a special community to which they truly belong.
